Ogun Tech Roundtable 2025: A Defining Moment for the Future of Innovation in Ogun State

April 2025 marked a pivotal milestone for the Ogun Tech Community as stakeholders, startups, policymakers, and partners gathered in Abeokuta for the much-anticipated Ogun Tech Roundtable — an event that reaffirmed Ogun State’s rising influence in Nigeria’s digital economy.

Held at the Ogun Tech Hub, the roundtable brought together innovators, ecosystem leaders, and government representatives, headlined by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. His presence and keynote address served as a major endorsement of the vibrant work happening within the Ogun tech ecosystem.

A Welcome Rooted in Purpose
In his opening remarks, the President of the Ogun Tech Community welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of grassroots innovation and regional tech leadership. He shared the origin story of OTC, launched in February 2022, and the community’s evolution into a structured and inclusive network supporting digital growth across Ogun State.

“Ogun is not just a corridor to Lagos,” he said. “We are building something real here — a model ecosystem that includes students in remote schools with digital learner IDs, active tech clusters, and a population rich with talent.”

Celebrating Milestones and Momentum
The event highlighted the journey and achievements of the Ogun Tech Community so far, including:

Ogun Tech Hangout & Abeokuta Tech Hangout

Ogun Tech Hackathon

Digital Literacy Workshops

Cybersecurity Awareness Events

The formation of 19 active clusters — including OTC Women in Tech, Agritech, Tech Policy & Advocacy, Mentors Connect, and Developers Group.

Alignment with National Vision
A key highlight was the community’s strategic alignment with the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill, 2024 and the Honourable Minister’s Strategic Agenda 2023–2027, which centers on:

Knowledge

Policy

Infrastructure

Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Capital

Trade

The OTC President reaffirmed the community’s commitment to advancing these pillars through programs focused on digital inclusion, tech infrastructure, education, and innovation development.

A Call for Partnership
The roundtable wasn’t just a forum — it was a call to action. The OTC leadership used the platform to advocate for national replication of some of Ogun’s most successful grassroots tech solutions. These include working learner ID systems for public school students and the push for better digital access in underserved communities.

Crucially, the President made a passionate appeal for two urgent needs:

A fully functional physical Secretariat for the Ogun Tech Community

A state-backed Innovation Hub to incubate and scale startups

A Minister’s Endorsement
In his keynote, the Honourable Minister praised the work being done in Ogun State and expressed a willingness to partner with the OTC to expand digital access, youth capacity-building, and innovation opportunities. His words served as both validation and motivation for all present.

Looking Ahead
The Ogun Tech Roundtable was more than an event; it was a declaration that Ogun State is ready — not just to participate in the digital future but to lead it.

As the OTC continues to build bridges between public policy and grassroots innovation, the roundtable stands as a symbol of what’s possible when community, government, and vision align.

Ogun is not waiting for the future — we are building it now.
